Old fashioned saimin houses are slowly going out of business in Hawaii, but one that continued to stay in business is Sekiya's in Kaimuki. Located across from Kaimuki High School, the restaurant has plenty of free parking and is open 7 days a week from 8am. They have both an okazuya counter as well as a sit-down restaurant.
We love to start off our meal with the hash balls from the okazuya table. Hash balls are corned-beef hash battered with tempura. This may not sound very appetizing but it's surprisingly good.

Sekiya's also has regular teishoku menu items, hamburgers, BBQ sticks, and ice cream sundaes. Judging from the lunch time crowd that was there today, it doesn't look like this establishment will be going out of business anytime soon.
