Waikiki SPAM Jam 2011

Hawaii loves Spam ... so much, that one of the busiest streets on Oahu is closed to traffic for one afternoon/evening in order for Hawaii to celebrate Spam. The Spam Jam consists of local entertainment, craft booths, and food vendors. A dozen restaurants take part in this annual event, incorporating spam into their most popular menu items.

I had the opportunity to sample many of the various food items that were featured at the Spam Jam for free, at the Spam Jam tweetup organized by @atmarketing. The tweetup was held at Jimmy Buffets, which was right in the middle of all the action. This tweetup is so popular that there was a waiting list to get on the guest list.

View of the Spam Jam from Jimmy Buffets - nice bird's eye view:

Spam Babies (Cheeseburger Waikiki)

Spam Katsu over fried rice

Spam Fried Rice (Dukes/Hula Grill)

Spam Siu Mai (Seafood Village)

Spam Chili (Jimmy Buffet's)

Spam Quesadilla (Gordon Biersch)

Spam Nachos (Jimmy Buffet's)

Philly Cheesesteak SPAMwich (Gordon Biersch)

Garlic Spam and Shrimp Pasta (Gordon Biersch)

Spam Bento (Aqua Cafe)

Spam Poke with Taro Chips (Doraku)

Spam Lettuce Wraps (PF Chang's)

During the tweetup, they were giving away Spam swag - I was the lucky winner of one of the gift bags!

Mahalo to @atmarketing for hosting the tweetup.
