Visit Portland: White River West Sno-Park

During our trip to Oregon my kids got to see snow for the first time when we took them to White River West Sno-Park in Mt. Hood National Forest, which is about a 90-minute drive from Portland.

Since we went in the middle of March, the snow was more like ice, but my kids still had a blast playing with and in the snow.

We built snowmen and slid down a snowy hill (no sleds or tubes required).

We did see several other visitors with sleds, and also many who went snowshoeing and skiing throughout the park.  We even saw one snowmobiler!

There are two restrooms on the grounds, and plenty of parking.

A sno-park permit was required during our visit, which we bought at a sporting goods store back in Portland.

We spent two days at White River West Sno-Park, and snow play was definitely a highlight of our trip!
