A couple of days ago I attended a Ward Village presentation at fishcake (where we were treated to a lovely lunch from Morning Glass Coffee + Pastry Bar, which is located inside fishcake) to find out all about the exciting changes that are happening in the heart of Honolulu.
fishcake - such a cute shop with an eclectic mix of modern and vintage items |
Morning Glass Coffee + Pastry Bar eats - Bacon, Arugula, and Tomato Sandwich and a Snickerdoodle - YUM! |
Ward Village will be a vibrant, integrated community that celebrates the land’s rich history and creates a diverse neighborhood that reflects the authentic spirit of Honolulu. Ward Village is committed to bettering not only the immediate area, but the surrounding community and the state of Hawai‘i as a whole. This revitalized community will truly offer something for everyone – complete streets, a unique variety of local and national retailers, beautiful open spaces and a range of both market rate and workforce residences. Ward Village is the largest LEED for Neighborhood Development Platinum-Certified neighborhood in the United States and the first of its kind in Hawai‘i.
You may have noticed a lot of the changes as Ward Village goes through its transformation - the construction of a new condominium, the renovation of the IBM Building, and the introduction of Courtyard Cinema, to name just a few.
Ward Centers will also begin to make the transition to Ward Village Shops. Even though we live 30 minutes away, our family goes to Ward Village Shops often to eat, shop and play, and with so many new shops and eateries opening up, as well as many more upcoming events, I'm sure we'll be at Ward Village a lot more.
Many popular community events, such as the Courtyard Cinema, will continue to take place, as well as new ones, such as the Ward Village Yoga Series - a free weekly community yoga series starting Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5:30-6.30 p.m. at the Ward Village Information Center lanai.
At the presentation we were shown a brief video which featured some of Ward Village's tenants. Hearing how passionate everyone was about their businesses and serving the local community, and how excited they were about the development made me excited too!
Ward Village - a place where people can live, work, and play, and where the sense of community will only grow stronger.
