Kids (and adults) were encouraged to arrive in costume, and at the event guests had photo ops with superheroes, participated in fun activities ranging from crafts to hula-hooping, and watched local entertainers.
The highlight of the night was when we were introduced to real-life superheroes representing each of the five non-profit organizations, and when we watched a special screening of Legends of the Knight by Brett Culp. Legends of the Knight is a documentary that "weaves together the uplifting true stories of individuals who have overcome devastating obstacles, unselfishly given to the community, and embraced their inner superhero because of their love of Batman."
The stories of the local heroes, as well as those in the documentary, moved me to tears.
At the end of the night I felt so much admiration for everyone that was acknowledged and featured, and I felt so inspired by all of their stories.
My kids really enjoyed the event, especially seeing all of the costumed superheroes, but I really enjoyed the event because of the real-life superheroes.
Legends of the Knight arrives on DVD & Digital November 18.
Thank you to the sponsor for providing complimentary tickets for the event.
