Banana Chocolate Bars

Once again I had overripe bananas, and after searching for recipes online I decided to make Banana Chocolate Bars, based on this recipe from Taste of Home.

Banana Chocolate Bars (recipe credit Taste of Home):

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 c butter, softened
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • 1-1/2 c flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa

Directions:

  • Spray 9x13 in baking pan with cooking/baking spray.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Mix in the bananas.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and combine well.
  • Divide batter in half.
  • Add cocoa to half of mixture; mix well and spread into bottom of pan.
  • Pour remaining batter on top and spread evenly.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
  • Cool on a wire rack.
