When we visited the Phoenix Zoo for ZooLights, we noticed this huge rock with a hole in it, and there were lots of people standing in the hole.
We were very curious about this popular attraction, and discovered that it was Hole-in-the-Rock, which is part of
Papago Park.
We decided to get a closer look at Hole-in-the-Rock.

The Hole-in-the-Rock is a "naturally eroded rock formation" which the Hohokam used a a calendar device in prehistoric times.
There were pretty views looking out the Hole-in-the-Rock!

After checking out Hole-in-the-Rock we decided to walk around the Sonoran Desert a bit more.
There are several huge cacti, some fishing lagoons, picnic areas, and other trails throughout the park.

We also walked up to Hunt's Tomb, where Governor George Wiley Paul Hunt is buried (along with his wife, wife's parents, and wife's sister). He set a national record for the multiple terms he was elected governor of Arizona.

The view from near Hunt's Tomb was gorgeous!

The weather that day was in the 40s, so it was perfect for a hike through the desert.
Hiking throughout Papago Park was a great way to spend the morning with the family.
