Cascade Ice Review

Complimentary product given for review purposes

Usually in the afternoons, around 2 pm, the urge to drink something fizzy and sweet hits me.  That's when I "Do the Dew", so to speak.  Diet Mountain Dew, that is.  I love the taste, I love the fizz, and I love the caffeine.  But I've read time and time again, that too much caffeine is not good for us, and caffeine this late in the day has negative effects on the quality of sleep.  Why?  In a typical person, caffeine has a half-life of about 5 hours.  That means that if you consume caffeine in the afternoon, chances are it's still in your bloodstream when it's time to turn in for the night.

Thus it's time to kick the afternoon caffeine habit, while fulfilling my need for something fizzy and sweet in the afternoons.  Cascade Ice is the perfect solution. Cascade Ice is a zero-calorie, sugar-free flavored sparkling water that quenches my thirst without any guilt, since it's both calorie-free and caffeine free.  And best of all, it tastes great!

I recently sampled 5 of their flavors - Orange Mango, Pomegranate Berry, Pink Grapefruit, Black Raspberry, and Raspberry Lemonade.  In total, they have over 31 available flavors, and some are made with organic water!

Let's take a closer look at one of the flavors I tried - Raspberry Lemonade.

As I poured the Cascade Ice into my cup, I could see and hear the carbonatation.

I was expecting the Raspberry Lemonade to be tart and tangy like plain lemonade, but this was really sweet. It reminded me of carbonated fruit punch.

The Pomegranate Berry and and Black Raspberry were also on the sweet side.  Very pleasant though, and great for those who crave fruity drinks with a nice pop to them.

The Orange Mango Flavor was less sweet and it reminded me of Crush Orange soda that I used to drink back in the day. But the beauty of Cascade Ice is that it contains ZERO sugar and calories unlike other flavored sodas.

Pink Grapefruit will appeal to you if you like grapefruit. The taste is quite similar to actual grapefruit and since I am not a huge fan of grapefruit, this flavor was the least attractive to me.

Each bottle contains 17.2 ounces and as I stated before, it is SUGAR, SODIUM, CAFFEINE, AND GLUTEN FREE!  The primary ingredient is carbonated water, which is naturally flavored with 1% fruit juice.

Cascade Ice is available in all 50 states, in major retailers like Wal-Mart, Albertson's, and Safeway.  In Hawaii, local retailers such as Times Supermarkets, Don Quijote, Foodland, Longs Drugs, and Tesoro also carry it.  Not all flavors are available at all locations.

In addition to consuming it by itself, you can also create great-tasting cocktails with Cascade Ice.  Since VALENTINE'S DAY is around the corner, here are a few recipes to spice up your Valentine's Day celebration (for those 21 and over please!):

Love Potion Pizzazz: To mix up the irresistible potion, mix 2oz of Cascade Ice’s Pomegranate Berry with 1oz of vodka. Add a garnish of fresh cherries and you’re ready to go!

Passion Pucker-Up Cocktail: Mix up this tantalizing drink by pouring 1.5oz of tequila and 3oz of Cascade Ice Black Raspberry over crushed ice into your mixer. Next, add the juice of a lime wedge and a handful of raspberries. Garnish the cocktail with an orange wedge and serve!

Blushing Sparkler: Mix 1oz of whipped vodka, 4oz of Cascade IcePink Grapefruit, the juice of a lemon wedge and a handful of ice in a mixer. Pour the cocktail into a chilled glass and garnish with lemon wedges.
