Tarzan DVD Review

Now available on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) is Lionsgate Home Entertaiment's CGI animated tale of Tarzan, starring Kellan Lutz.  Based on the classic 'Tarzan' stories created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, this story of Tarzan has been completely re-imagined for a new generation.  During an expedition to a remote African jungle, the Greystoke family's helicopter crashes, leaving one survivor: the young boy J.J., nicknamed Tarzan. Raised by gorillas, Tarzan lives by the laws of the jungle - until he encounters another human being, the courageous and beautiful Jane Porter. For Tarzan and Jane, it is love at first sight and the beginning of a thrilling adventure as Tarzan uses his instincts and intellect to protect his jungle home and the woman he loves.

Our family of four was very excited to watch this family friendly movie.  First off, the adults were very impressed with the CGI animation.  I couldn't get over how real everything looked and how impressive the animation captured even the subtle movements of real people and transferred that to the screen.  While there is a lot of action and some violence, the story line has enough depth to keep adults attentive.

My 7 year old who was familiar with the original story of Tarzan initially had a hard time understanding why the story did not follow the well-known plot.  But after we explained to her that is was a modern day retelling of the story starring the same main characters, she got into it right away.  My 4 year old loved the action and even learned one or two things about gorilla behavior.  We keep the DVD ready to go as he's been asking to watch Tarzan almost daily.

Don't miss this one!  Available on Blu-ray and DVD for the suggested retail price of $14.99 and $14.98, respectively.
