Biddy Sports at the YMCA

My son turned four in November and I thought it was about time to enroll him in a sport.  You might think it insane, but when choosing a sport, I think long term and take into consideration how much time will be spent outdoors.  The sun is the skin's enemy, People!  Okay, maybe I am just a little overzealous on the subject.  But, it's not chance that my daughter has played volleyball for two years inside a high school gym.

All joking aside, Biddy Sports, a program at the YMCA, introduces preschoolers with their parents, to the beginning of team and sports activities. Weekly participants will learn basic game skills of the sport through skill practice and drills. This is a program designed for your child's first time experience in a sport and is aimed to help your child build confidence and a basic understanding of the sport.

The Mililani YMCA is currently offering Basketball.  The class meets for one hour a week for 8 weeks, depending on the session.  The fee for 8 weeks is $82 for non members and $68 for YMCA members.  The kids started with some stretching and light warm up exercises, played a game of tag with the coaches, practiced chest passes with their parents, and ended with shooting some hoops.  All, in one hour.

My son was a little hesitant to try something new, but he loved it immediately.  The coaches were great with the kids.  He had so much fun that I am looking forward to watching him (from the shade) each week.
