Visit Las Vegas: Benihana

Although there are numerous Benihana locations throughout the world, including one in Hawaii, it wasn't until our trip to Las Vegas did I get to experience the very entertaining teppanyaki dinner.

Our family was treated to a great dinner at the Benihana located in the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

Our chef, Leo, was quick & funny, and my kids got a kick out of watching him cook up close and do all kinds of tricks, like creating an onion volcano and a heart out of fried rice.

All meals, including the kids meals, are served with Japanese onion soup, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables (corn, zucchini, and onion), homemade dipping sauces, and steamed rice.
Adult entrees also include Benihana salad and Japanese hot green tea.
Kids meals and adult specialties include ice cream.

I had the Hibachi Chicken.  Originally I was going to get the Hibachi Lemon Chicken, but our server advised that the chicken is only lightly flavored with lemon, and if I wanted something with more seasoning to get the regular Hibachi Chicken, so that's what I ordered, and I'm glad I did.

The chicken was seasoned well and cooked perfectly.  The accompanying shrimp, veggies, and rice made for a very filling meal.

My husband had the Splash 'N Meadow, which consisted of steak and shrimp, and he ate everything up!

The kids' Hibachi Chicken Rice was a nice serving for just $3.25, and my kids actually tried shrimp for the first time at Benihana and loved it!

I liked how the kids menus would turn into a cute chef's hat, and that the kids meals sure come with a lot of food!

Because of the dinner "show" and how the chef cooks like items together (e.g. shrimp first, then steak, then chicken), those who ordered combination items got their dinner items based on which cooked first, so if you ordered only chicken, you'd have to wait a while for your food to be finished cooking.  Thankfully, the soup, salad, and appetizers were more than enough to tide us over until our main entree was completed.

Overall service was great, and so was the food.

Dinner at Benihana was one of the most entertaining dinners our family has ever experienced.
