Pali Momi Women's Center Girls' Night Out Event

In March of this year, Pali Momi Medical Center held its very first Girls' Night Out Event - a free event where guests were pampered while learning about different aspects of women's health.

The event garnered so much interest that they scheduled another event for this past Friday.  The recent event sold out, and another event is already planned for October.

Hawaii Mom Blog was fortunate to be invited to the sold out event, and I am so happy that I attended.

With an expected turnout of about 150 guests, the Pali Momi Women's Center was transformed into a spa-like atmosphere where representatives from businesses such as Honolulu Nail Academy, Regis Salons, and Macy's were available to treat guests to manicures, hairstyling, and makeup sessions.

Guests also learned about breast cancer, different ways to reduce stress, and the numerous services that are offered at the facility (guests also had the opportunity to participate in mammograms and ultrasound screenings during the event).

Food and water was also provided during the event.

Pali Momi's Girls' Night Out Event is a wonderful event for women of all ages.

I thought the event was really fun, as well as very informative.

I left the event with a lot of practical goodies (sleep mask, skin care samples, etc.), and I learned a new healthy recipe, as well as a couple of meditation techniques.

But the most important thing I left the event with is information. I read in magazines all the time about women's health, but actually going to an event, hearing from the speakers, and seeing the facilities at the Pali Momi Women's Center really made a difference. Nancy Von Borzestowski, Director of Pali Momi Women's Center, told of how Pali Momi is the only state facility with an automated whole breast ultrasound machine, which is important for women with dense breast tissue, and Dr. Susie Chen, Radiation Oncologist at the Cancer Center of Hawaii, gave a very thorough and enlightening presentation on breast cancer.

Girls' Night Out really inspired me to take action on my health.  In fact, I just made an appointment with my primary care physician to ensure I get all the necessary screenings and tests done for a woman my age.
