Visit Maui: Mama's Fish House

Mama's Fish House came highly recommended by Nat, but is located on Maui's North Shore in Paia.  Since we were staying in Kaanapali, we thought it'd be best to stop by for a late lunch after we arrived at the Maui Airport which was about a 20 minute drive.

The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the ocean so bring your camera!  Although this restaurant is really pricey, it is also really family friendly, complete with crayons and a kids' menu.

Fishermen bring their catches directly to Mama's. The restaurant processes and serves the fish within 24 hours.  Even their daily menu lists the name of the fisherman and where they caught their fish!  Very cool!

We started with oysters and the sashimi which we practically inhaled.  I decided on the ono, mahimahi, and ahi sauteed in panang curry.  The fish was so fresh and the dish was very delicious.  My husband had the most popular dish on the menu, the mahimahi stuffed with lobster and crab baked in a macadamia nut crust.  We all enjoyed our lunch, even the kids.  We finished everything.

Our drinks all have umbrellas!  Cheers!

Fresh oysters from Canada.

Sashimi trio.

Beef tenderloin off the kids' menu.

Ahi, ono, and mahimahi in panang curry.  Deelish!

Mahimahi stuffed with lobster and crab.  Their most popular dish.

We were too full to order dessert, but lucky for us they gave us each a delicious piece of haupia.

If fresh fish is what you like, stop here when in Maui!
