Now, they're going to have to do it for real. My family loves the movies so we jumped at the chance to see the screening of Pixels even though we didn't know anything about it other than Pac Man was in it. After discovering it starred Adam Sandler, I was a little weary because the last movie I saw him in was Grown Ups 2 and I just didn't find it funny. But Pixels had me laughing out loud, jumping in my seat, and loving the amazing CGI in 3D.
My kids, ages 4 and 8, loved it too. I thought the references to old school video games familiar to Gen Xers would make it hard for my kids to follow, but it really didn't matter. The kids enjoyed the action and my son couldn't stop talking about the adorable Q-bert. As a parent, I liked that the fight scenes were relatively tame, not over-the-top violent, and not bloody.
A lot of the reviews have been pretty harsh, but these critics are taking the movie too seriously. One review I read stated that they were disappointed because the movie failed to truly convey the addictive pleasures of gaming. Judging by the laughter of the audience, this was not a primary concern. As a comedy and action movie, Pixels delivers. Although the plot leaves some unanswered questions and the aliens never make an appearance, Pixels is a likeable and fun movie for the entire family.

Critics are always too hard on Adam Sandler. Stupid since he's considered one of the nicest guys in Hollywood....my husband has met him before. I plan to see this! Great review!
