111-Hawaii Project's UACOCO Crisps Launch

This past Friday, the 111-Hawaii Project launched Product #3 – UACOCO Crisps, at an event held at Akakura House in Waikiki.

About UACOCO Crisps ($7.50):
“Uakoko” (Hawaiian word for Soft Rainbow) + “Coconut” = UACOCO.

The fusion of different cultures, foods, tastes and flavors here in Hawaii is what really makes it special. Operating in Hawaii for over 60 years, Fujiya Honpo was one of the Japanese sweets shop that introduced mochi to Hawaii. Fujiya Honpo helped enable us to present our new collaboration product UACOCO Crisps, a mix of Japanese senbei with Rainbow Hawaii flavors! Popular sweets amongst locals, such as Chi Chi Dango, originated from Japanese sweets and were made in Hawaii. We want to bring these Hawaiian-Japanese sweets to the world! Based on Japanese senbei, “UACOCO” is a new fusion of Hawaii and Japan.

Sampling the colorful coconut crackers
At the launch, the public was welcome to try out UACOCO Crisps, a delightfully sweet coconut cracker that comes in a rainbow of colors and a variety of flavors: Pink Guava, Peach Orange, Yellow Pineapple, Green Tea, Blue Coconut, Purple Potato.

Representative of Hawaii in both colors and flavors, the UACOCO Crisps would make a great gift for any lover of cute confections, and of course it would be great for omiyage as well.

The crackers are so light and yummy - it can be difficult to stop eating them!  My favorites were the Pink Guava and Peach Orange.  The fruitiness really stood out!  If you love senbei, you'll definitely love these UACOCO Crisps!

At the event, guests were also offered samples of Fujiya's popular Chi Chi Dango and Mochi, along with samples of 111-Hawaii Projects first two products - 100% Iced Kona Coffee, and Kamiloiki Mamaki Tea (I sampled this healthy, caffeine-free tea, and was pleasantly surprised with how refreshing and non-bitter it was.  You can read more about Mamaki Tea here).
