Visit Spokane: Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival Spokane

Now through November 1 at Riverfront Park, you can catch the dazzling lantern displays at the Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival Spokane
This special event offers visitors a glimpse of Chinese history and culture through numerous activities, exhibits, and performances.

We arrived at the Festival a little before 6pm. The sun was still out, but even during twilight the lanterns were still beautiful, and the crowds were minimal, meaning we had plenty of unobscured photo ops.  Once the sun began to disappear, the lantern exhibits were even more magical!

On display were hundreds of lanterns depicting animals, flowers, and people, as well as a 196-foot dragon, and a three-story pagoda.  There were also a few exhibits with moving parts which were fun to watch.

We really enjoyed the whimsical displays - the bright flowers, cute pandas, and even spitting fish, but the enormous dragon was the highlight for everyone in our family!

The Chinese Lantern Festival was not only a great way to see such beautiful lanterns in intricate presentations, but it was also a nice way to explore Riverfront Park.

In additional to the colorful displays, there were interactive stations, performances, vendors, food, and activities.
