Earlier this week I attended a lunch to celebrate the launch of the
first video of Simmer Sundays, a weekly series featuring fabulous beef recipes
by Moms. Simmer Sundays was produced by CookSpace
Hawaii in partnership with the Hawaii Beef Council and partly funded by the
Beef Checkoff. Dale Sandlin, managing
director of the Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council spoke about working towards
promoting the use of beef in the diets of Hawaii’s families for better health
and nutrition.
Last month, I (nervously) filmed my video sharing an Easy Beef Stroganoff
recipe. I had prepared the dish a few
times for my family. At first, I wasn’t
sure if my kids would like it because we don’t eat a lot of beef at home. But they loved it! The recipe is simple and doesn’t take a lot
of time to prepare. It also doesn’t
require an extensive list of ingredients.
Now I feel more confident that I can introduce other beef dishes into my
children’s diets. Beef provides
nutrients like zinc, iron, protein and B vitamins, and half of the fat found in
beef is mono-unsaturated.
The beef the Moms use in the recipes of Simmer Sundays was graciously provided by Michelle Galimba of Kuahiwi Ranch and member of the Hawaii Board of Agriculture. A new video will be featured each Sunday on www.CookSpace.Kitchen. Hope you enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed being a part of it!
