Visit Post Falls: Treaty Rock Park

While visiting the charming town of Post Falls, Idaho, we made sure to make a stop at Treaty Rock Park.

Treaty Rock Park is a 4-acre park with a short, easy trail to the actual Treaty Rock display.

Despite a lack of evidence that an actual treaty was signed between Chief Moses Seltice of the Coeur d’ Alene Indian Tribe and Fredrick Post, a German immigrant and Post Falls' founder, a legal description of a land agreement dated June 1, 1871 appeared in the final treaty of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe.

Tradition has it that Post provided lumber to the Tribe in exchange for use of the land.

Native American pictographs are also on the display, but it has since faded over the years, and is very hard to see.

It was neat to see this piece of history that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places!
