Queen Emma's 180th Birthday Tea

Yesterday I celebrated Queen Emma's 180th Birthday at Hula Grill Waikiki.

Hula Grill Waikiki is located in the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort hotel, which sits atop Queen Emma's land.  The Birthday Tea gathering allowed a select group of guests to honor Queen Emma, who was born on January 2, 1836 and was known for her humanitarian efforts.

I sipped on some of Queen Emma's Rose Blend Tea - a fragrant blend of tea created by Pacific Tea Garden in honor of Queen Emma's love for roses and tea, and indulged in a Kukui Portuguese Sausage Bao Bun Benedict with Lemon Hollandaise and Papaya Relish for breakfast (I loved the local twist on a typical Eggs Benedict), while enjoying great conversation and gorgeous views of Waikiki.

The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort often commemorates Queen Emma's birthday with a small, informal gathering, but this was the first breakfast tea to celebrate Queen Emma's Birthday at Hula Grill Waikiki. Although yesterday's event was not open to the public, hopefully future events will allow the general public a chance to participate in such a lovely event honoring Queen Emma, because who wouldn't want to start the day with breakfast by the beach while sipping on some tea?
