Da Hawaiian Poke Co.

Because I didn't grow up in Hawaii, I don't have a full appreciation for poke.  During my high school years, I learned that it was a classic Hawaiian pupu and a must at any party with food.  I still don't eat a lot of poke because I prefer to eat raw fish with rice like in nigiri sushi.  But one visit to Da Hawaiian Poke Co. has changed all that.

I love the concept of their: "Aloha Your Way" Poke Bar.  You can make your very own customized poke bowl!  Start with white, brown or sushi rice (yes!) and choose up to two proteins.  Then select one of their 6 delicious flavors of sauce and top with an extensive menu of toppings ranging from daikon sprouts to Maine lobster to yuzu tobiko.  This is such a healthy alternative for lunch or dinner and you'll be happy to know that Da Hawaiian Poke Co. uses line caught ahi and locally sourced ingredients.

If you don't feel like getting creative, they have several set bowls on the menu to choose from and also a couple of plate lunches:  HPC Hawaiian Luau plate and the Ahi Loco Moco.  And of course, they sell several varieties of poke.

They are located on Kapahulu and open daily from 10am-8pm and from 10am to 6pm on Sundays.  Check them out!

Located on Kapahulu in the Safeway complex.  Lots of parking!

Awesome and friendly staff!

Tons of poke varieties.

The HPC Shaka Bowl:  HPC Spicy Ahi poke, Maine Lobster with wasabi foam and yuzu tobiko, furikake wasabi salmon poke, ikura, uni, daikon sprouts, crispy salmon skin, and topped with kabayaki sauce.  They ran out of a couple of ingredients, but the Shaka Bowl is my fave!  I LOVE the Maine Lobster!

Here's the Aloha Bowl I created: ahi and madako tako with spicy sauce and topped with green onions, yuzu tobiko, bubu arare, and crispy garlic over sushi rice.
These ahi bombs are HUGE on taste!

This picture does not do the Smoked Ahi Dip any justice.  My husband couldn't stop eating it!

Much different from me, my daughter has grown up loving all kinds of raw fish and loves poke.  She loved finishing off the bowls.

Thank you to Da Hawaiian Poke Co. for inviting me to their media day!  All opinions are entirely my own.
