New in Kapolei - Takumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar

The recent opening of Takumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar in Kapolei offers a new dining option for those who are craving delicious Japanese food.

Our family dined at Takumi for lunch, during which time both the lunch and dinner menus are offered (the lunch menu consists of mostly salads and bentos).

We decided to order three bento lunches, along with a few other dishes to share.

Bento Lunches come with Miso Soup, a Salad with Strawberries, Kim Chee, and Rice.  Each of my kids picked a bento, and we ended up with Grilled Garlic Chicken, Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, and Takumi Karaage Chicken.

The Teriyaki Chicken was my fave of them all - it was so flavorful! The Karaage Chicken was my next favorite - it was nice and crispy on the outside, and tender and tasty on the inside.  The Garlic Chicken was my least favorite, but my husband actually enjoyed that chicken the most of all the chicken dishes.

The Bacon Wrapped Kiri Mochi was really good.  I'm not a big fan of mochi, but the bacon gave it a nice smoky, salty flavor.

The Unwrapped Gyoza with Cheese is one of Takumi's specialties.  The crispy, teppan gyoza filling was good, but I personally would rather have the filling in the wrapper.  It was worth a try though!

The Okonomiyaki ("Japanese Sweet Cabbage Pancake") Potato and Bacon Cheese Tama was my favorite dish of the entire meal.  The combination of potatoes, bacon, and cheese, along with the okonomiyaki sauce was so good - I could've eaten the entire dish myself!

I was pretty impressed with the food and service, especially since the restaurant had just recently opened.

I'm eager to go back to try many more items from the menu!
