An Ideal Family Staycation at Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk

Our first experience at an Embassy Suites by Hilton was in California.  My husband and I were so impressed with the spacious, two-room suite and the complimentary hot breakfast (especially the made-to-order omelets), that when Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk opened almost a decade ago, I knew we'd have to staycation there someday with the family.

Well, "someday" finally occurred a couple of weekends ago.

Our family arrived at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk on a Friday afternoon. We dropped our car off with the valet and went to the front desk to check-in. I gave the front desk employee my name, and just as I sat down for the check-in process, another employee brought out some refreshing juice for our family.

Before long we were on our way to our room in the Aloha Tower, one of two towers on the property (the other tower being the Hula Tower).

With 369 recently-renovated one- or two-bedroom suites, the Embassy Suites offers families an ideal place to stay.

Our one-bedroom suite, decorated in warm tones and kapa-inspired design elements, offered plenty of room for our family of 5. 

There was a living room with a pull-out sofa bed, TV, table, microwave, mini refrigerator, and coffee maker.

The bedroom, which included 2 super comfy queen beds, a wardrobe, desk, dresser, and another flat panel TV, was comparable to some rooms we've stayed at in the past, so it was really great to have that extra space in the living room for our family.

The bathroom was large, with two doors - one opening into the living room area, another into the bedroom.

Our view from the balcony primarily consisted of other hotels and Waikiki Beach Walk down below, but we could see some of the ocean as well.

Not only did I love how spacious the room was, but I also loved how quiet it was (despite guests in neighboring rooms, we hardly heard any noise from them), and how outlets were plentiful in order for us to charge all of our tech.

The elevators, although at times slow, are secured (key card needed to access the floors), so it was nice knowing that not just anyone can go up to the rooms.

At the Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk, the Grand Lanai on the fourth floor is where most of the action takes place.

Every morning guests make their way there to start the day off with a complimentary breakfast. Fresh fruit, waffles, sausage, eggs, potatoes, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, juices, coffee, and more are available to choose from, and made-to-order omelets are offered as well.

Complimentary yoga classes are also available on select mornings at the Grand Lanai.

During the day we spent time at the pool, also on the fourth floor.

There are a few outdoor bed loungers that get snatched up early, but chaise lounges were plentiful throughout the day, as well as umbrella-shaded tables, which come in especially handy if you want to eat something from the Pakini Bar.

We spent almost an entire day at the pool, and while there we ordered food from Pakini Bar

The Keiki portion was huge - and I enjoyed the chicken a lot more than I did the fish.

If you prefer the ocean, the beach is just a short walk away from the Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk.

In the evening, guests can go back to the Grand Lanai for the Evening Reception, during which time snacks and drinks are offered for consumption (tickets are issued to each guest with dates of validity for breakfast and evening reception).

You can really get filled up on snacks from the evening reception - it's hard to resist the cheesy nachos or the veggies with dressing.  My kids even skipped dinner one night because they were so full from the snacks!

Fortunately Embassy Suite's convenient location - right on Waikiki Beach Walk, means you are just steps away from popular eateries for when dinner time does roll around.  You can also get lots of shopping done at the numerous retailers on Waikiki Beach Walk.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk was really a great place for a family getaway.

We weren't cramped in a little room, we saved a lot of money because of the complimentary breakfast and snacks, and the kids loved the pool.  The hotel offers other great amenities as well, such as free Wi-Fi, complimentary newspaper, a fitness center, business center, and a laundry center.

And all throughout our stay, the warm, aloha-spirit was alive and well.

During breakfast employees offered to get guests coffee, pancake syrup, or any other additional breakfast necessities; at the evening reception a manager took the time to thank guests at the bar; whenever we passed anyone in the hotel's uniform we were always greeted.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk is an ideal hotel for both kama`aina and visitors, and our family truly felt welcomed throughout our entire stay.
