Bakery and Table

First off, Bakery and Table is located on King and Piikoi and there is valet parking ($3) available off of both streets.  When you walk in, you'll be greeted by trays and trays of beautiful pastries!  It was hard not to get out of control, but everything is pretty delicious so you can't go wrong.  My favorites were the curry pan and the almond cream croissant!  Pastries are priced between $3 and $4.  They also offer some of the most beautiful 6 inch tarts I have ever seen.  You can also special order them in 10 inches.  The customer service is excellent.  I loved that the counter people knew what they were talking about.  They knew the insides of every pastry I asked about and were able to tell me their favorites.  They also offer a stamp card so I will be sure to be back!

To go up to the restaurant, you'll walk up the staircase that is sandwiched between the restrooms and café seating area (there's even a micro to warm up your pastries!).  There's an indoor seating area where you will check in with the hostess and be led (hopefully) to the outside patio area.  It was still light out so it made for a very pretty ambience.

The décor of the tables and chairs is super cute and I immediately had great vibes!  It was a GNO so we decided to share the food and having polled friends, we ordered the most popular and reputable menu items:  kusshi oysters, pork belly, beet salad, kari kari chicken, italiano flatbread pizza, and the mentaiko pasta.  We loved everything, especially the mentaiko pasta.  It was so good that two of my friends each ordered another for take out!

We had put in our drink order the same time as the food so I will have to say the drinks took a relatively long time to come out.  So did the bread.  But it turns out, they were both worth the wait.  I really enjoyed my wine; my friend's pineapple mojito was very nice; and the focaccia was delicious!  Our server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu.  I also liked that another staff person gave us a heads up that the bakery would be closing.

For dessert, we had the ice cream katsu, the chocolate dome bread pudding, and the tofu panna cotta.  We had heard that there was nothing special about the bread pudding except for the presentation, but it turned out that I really liked it!  The bread pudding was good when eaten with the chocolate dome pieces.  I didn't care for the tofu panna cotta and I expected the ice cream katsu to be fried.  It's actually ice cream in soft mochi, which was good but unexpected.  There's no printed dessert menu so I probably wasn't listening as well as I should have been.
