Banan

Banan's food truck location on Monsarrat has been around for over a year now and sad to say I've never made it there.  But lucky for me (and you!) they opened a brick and mortar location near the UH Manoa occupying the former Yogurtland space.

I dropped in on a late Saturday afternoon and ordered the Riss Moore - a banana and acai swirl topped with delicious fruits and named after one of the owner's professional surfer girlfriend.  I had wondered what Riss Moore meant and I loved that it was named after a person.

What's even greater about this healthy non-dairy dessert made from locally sourced bananas is Banan's backstory: four high school friends returning to Hawaii to create a business together while supporting local agriculture.  Nice!

I loved my Banan bowl and especially liked that there is no added sugar.  I always feel so guilty feeding my kids an acai bowl because of the high sugar content.  With flavors like chocolate mac nut that my kids will surely love, it's a great alternative to ice cream or frozen yogurt.

The seating area is nice and inviting with wooden tables, a booth, and a couch area to enjoy your Banan bowls with friends.
