Visit Vancouver: The Flying Pig

The last time we visited Gastown, someone had mentioned that The Flying Pig was a very popular restaurant, so on our recent visit, we decided to go there for lunch.

Complimentary bread

Parmesan Breaded Chicken Cutlet

Blackened Steelhead Trout

Kids Crispy Chicken Cutlet

Kids Jumbo Mac and Cheese

Kids Market Fish
I ordered the chicken cutlet, which was served with mashed potatoes and veggies.  It was a good dish, but it didn't blow me away.  In fact, I thought it tasted a little under-seasoned.  My youngest ordered the chicken cutlet as well (kids size), and he loved it.

My husband ordered the trout, which he really enjoyed.  It came with a Greek couscous salad and avocado salsa.  I was a little envious of his meal.

One of my kids got the Market Fish, which turned out to be an amazing piece of salmon atop mashed potatoes and veggies.  I thought for a kids meal, the dish was pretty impressive!

Even though there was a large party at the restaurant, everyone was pitching in to help out where they could, and service never faltered.

Although I was underwhelmed with my meal, everyone else loved their food, and I'd definitely go back to try another dish.
