Dinner at La Hiki at the Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina

The Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina's La Hiki, inspired by the Hawaiian phrase mai ka la hiki a ka la kau ("from the rising to the setting sun"), offers guests pan-Asian cuisines for both breakfast and dinner, with an emphasis on local ingredients.

Dishes are meant to be shared family-style, and the extensive menu made it somewhat difficult for my husband and I to decide on what to order for dinner (our kids had no problems picking out what they wanted from the kids menu).

Fortunately, our server, Christopher, was very helpful in explaining the menu and offering recommendations.

After several minutes perusing the menu, we finally agreed upon a few dishes.

Before our orders arrived, we were given some Prawn Chips (thankfully they offer refills, because my kids could not stop eating them), and were treated to some Prosecco and an amuse bouche.

Amuse Bouche
The amuse bouche was fantastic.  Nori tempura was topped with a crab salad and sriracha aioli.  It was definitely a palate pleaser!

We were told that dishes are brought out as they're ready, so we expected a staggered delivery, but all of our meals were brought to the table in a span of just a few minutes.

Green Curry of Duck, Baby Corn, Eggplant
Taro Fries, La Hiki Chili Sauce

Miso Cauliflower, Garlic, Chili

Kung Pao Chicken, Peanuts, Black Vinegar
I absolutely loved the Kung Pao Chicken.  Each morsel of chicken was tender and full of spice.

The curry was very aromatic and flavorful, and my husband ate almost the entire bowl himself.

The taro fries were not as crunchy as potato fries, but they were still delicious, especially with the accompanying chili sauce.

The cauliflower was very good.  The miso flavor really shone through, and the cauliflower had a tiny bit of kick to it from the chili.

All kids (or "young gourmets," as they are described on the kids/teen menu) start off with Cucumber Sticks and Hummus.

Asian-style dishes are offered on the kids menu, as well as typical kid faves, such as spaghetti and hot dog.  Kids (ages 6-12) get to choose a main dish, a side, and a dessert all for just $8!
Kids Fried Egg Noodles with Soy Sauce

Kids Side French Fries
Kids Cheeseburger (comes with Fries)
Kids Side Mac 'n' Cheese

Kids Egg Fried Rice with Bacon

Kids Side Brown Butter Corn on the Cub
Kids Apple Pie
Kids ice cream
The kids loved their meals.  My oldest devoured the Mac 'n' Cheese and was clueless that it was made with pureed veggies instead of cream.

I had a taste of the Fried Rice, and it was delicious.  I wanted a taste of the Noodles as well, but my middle son barely left a noodle to spare.

For dessert, two of my kids had cinnamon ice cream, one had an apple pie, and they all had a taste of what the grownups ordered.

Molten Chocolate Japanese Donut, Green Tea Ice Cream
Grilled Pineapple Brown Butter Cake, Mango Passion Sorbet, Mango Coulis
The brown butter cake topped with the grilled pineapple was delicious.  Along with the sorbet, the dessert offered a nice contrast of textures and flavors.

The donuts were my favorite of the two desserts.  The donuts oozed chocolate with each bite and were a delight.  I don't normally care for green tea ice cream, but it paired perfectly with the donuts.

Service was stellar throughout dinner, and the views only added to our lovely dining experience, which ended just in time to watch the sky change hues at sunset.
