Ethel's Grill

Commonly described as one of Oahu's best hole-in-the-wall restaurants, Ethel's does not disappoint, so long as you don't mind the scarcity of parking or inevitable wait for a table.

The seating area is very limited, and the larger the party, the longer you'll have to wait for a table. On this particular day, since it was just the two of us, we only had to wait around 10 minutes, and we got seated well ahead of a larger group of people who had put in their name before us.

We split two entrees off of "Ethel's MOST Popular Dishes": garlic chicken ....

and mochiko chicken.

These dishes included rice, miso soup, green salad, and choice of fruit punch or iced tea.  Both dishes were delicious, although I preferred the mochiko chicken over the garlic chicken, because of the ginger-ponzu dipping sauce that comes with it.  Both versions of fried chicken were not as crispy as I would have liked it be, but the chicken was very flavorful thanks to the sauces, and the chicken was also very moist.  At $8.50 per plate, it's very reasonably priced.

I wouldn't mind returning to try some of their other "MOST Popular" dishes, but only if I'm in the area and have some time to spare.
