Lunch at The Pig and the Lady

A dear friend of mine is moving to the mainland later this week.  To bid her a fond farewell, a small group of us treated her to lunch at the Pig and the Lady in downtown Honolulu.  

The Pig and the Lady first started as a pop up restaurant in Kaka'ako. They enjoyed much success as a pop up restaurant, and they eventually branched out to farmers markets, where they normally have the longest line of customers due to their popularity.  Now they are a full fledged restaurant, with a second location on the way.

A must-try at the Pig and the Lady's restaurant is their Laotian Fried Chicken. It's listed as an appetizer, but you'll want to considering ordering this as your entree, because after one bite you'll regret having to share this with your dining mates.  

One of my friends and I could not decide between the pho and a sandwich, so we decided to share the P&L Pho and Pho French Dip. We asked our waitress if we could share a bowl of pho and she said they would be happy to split our pho into two separate bowls for us.  I'm not a really big fan of pho but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the P&L Pho was.  I've had the Pho French Dip many times, mainly at the Farmers Markets, and it's just as good if not better here at the restaurant.

My friend ordered the Kale Caesar Salad ... 

and another friend ordered Mama Le's Hai Nam Chicken. This was probably the "healthiest" thing on our table today. :)

For dessert I knew I wanted the P&L Softserve. Today's flavor was Thai Tea Custard + Charred Pineapple Sorbet.  It was very light and refreshing!

Reservations are highly recommended. This is currently one of the hottest restaurants in Oahu's dining scene.
