Hawaii State Farm Fair - July 9 & 10, 2016

The 54th Annual Hawaii State Farm Fair is going on today and tomorrow at Kualoa Ranch. This two-day event is full of food, animals, plants, fruits/veggies, entertainment, exhibits, rides, and games.  My family and I went this morning at 9 AM and had a lot of fun looking at all of the exhibits and animals.  If you don't have a chance to check it out today (open until 7PM), you can still check them out tomorrow between 9AM - 5PM.

The Farm Fair is located at Kualoa Ranch, in Kaneohe, on the east side of Oahu.  Parking is free, and admission is only $5 for adults, and free for children and students with a valid ID.

Just before 9 AM, there were a lot of anxious people waiting in line to get in.

At the entrance is the market and plant sale.  If you're looking for a particular kind of plant, chances are that it's here - there are so many plants!

Succulents are a popular thing now, and they have many to choose from.

The market side has a lot of fresh produce and fruits available for purchase.

Once you emerge from the plant and market tent, here's where the fun really begins.

Brother D wanted to ride the ponies, but I believe you have to be at least 5 to ride.

The boys really enjoyed looking at all of the animals in the 4H Livestock tent.

We saw some 4H members showing off their livestock.

There were a lot of neat exhibits in the Hawaii Department of Agriculture's "Buy Local, It Matters" educational pavilion.

You could even make your own smoothie by pedaling a bicycle!

Don't forget to visit the GEICO tent to win swag.

The Kiddie Zone has Xtreme Fun rides and bouncy houses to keep the kiddies happy.

And at Keiki Farm Hands, the kids can go for a ride on kid's sized tractors!

or learn about growing plants...

or run their hands through corn (keep the corn in the bin please!).

on your way out, grab a snack from the Seven-Eleven Country Store.

There are a handful of food vendors offering a wide variety of food and beverages.

Shave ice is always a crowd pleaser.

There is A LOT of wide open space for the kids to run around.

Thank you to our sponsor for providing complimentary tickets to the Farm Fair!

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE FARM FAIR

The Hawaii State Farm Fair, now in its 54TH year,  is an annual event started in 1962 by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation (HFBF) as a way to promote awareness of Hawaii’s agricultural and ranching industries.

The Farm Fair is held in partnership with the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture and Hawaii 4-H Livestock Council(4-H) aims to educate young people about the various aspects of agriculture. 4-H also exhibits their livestock and demonstrates their knowledge at the Fair through presentations and performances with their animals.

The Hawaii State Department of Agriculture (HDOA) has also been a big part of making the Hawaii State Farm Fair Hawaii’s premier agricultural event. The HDOA’s 240 employees statewide work to support, enhance and promote Hawaii’s agriculture and aquaculture industries.
