New Eats: Bee & Tea

Yet another bubble tea establishment has recently opened on Oahu.  This one is in Kailua and its owner is former University of Hawaii Wahine Volleyball player Nohea Tano.

Bee & Tea is a franchise based out of Chicago, IL. Its menu is very different from most other bubble tea houses.  They have a lot of unique flavors and combinations that are a welcome change to the bubble tea market.

Pictured below: Tropical Tea (jasmine green tea, pineapple, and passion fruit) and Signature Lemonade (lemonade with strawberry and mango fruit bits and chia seeds). The Tropical tea tasted like regular honey tea - I could barely taste the pineapple or passion fruit.  The Signature Lemonade was a bit on the sour side.   Perhaps I should have stuck to my modus operandi and ordered the Purist - classic pearl milk tea (with green or black tea).

In addition to boba teas and lemonade, they also offer Closed Baos in 4 flavors.  They're about the size of the the mini manapuas that you get at dim sum restaurants.  The miso steak was my favorite out of the three that I tried.

3 for $6.99

Perhaps the next time we make a run to Target, we'll stop by Bee & Tea to try a smoothie or acai bowl.
