Bozu Japanese Restaurant is a new izakaya located on the second floor of McCully Shopping Center. I've heard many great reviews and so suggested it for dinner when my friend said she was up for sushi.
We were able to get a dinner reservation at the sushi counter which is my favorite. It's fun to watch the sushi chefs in action. The extensive menu is a little overwhelming, but what's nice about an izakaya is that you can order a couple of dishes at a time. We ended up having stellar bay oysters, yam and uni beef roll, negi toro, salmon nigiri, and the Bozu special roll.
Everything was delicious and fresh. The standouts were the yam and uni beef roll and the Bozu roll. I'm not a fan of mountain yam, but I loved the uni and beef with the shiso leaf. The Bozu roll, which pretty much had a little bit of everything, was my favorite.
The restaurant is open nightly from 5pm to 12am and closed on Sundays.
