Hawaiʻi Pacific University Offers Full Four-Year Tuition Scholarships to Hawaiʻi High School Students

Hawaiʻi Pacific University will award full four-year tuition merit scholarships to four deserving Hawaiʻi high school seniors as part of its annual Scholarship Challenge competition. The #HPU4Hawaii Scholarship Challenge is a program designed to encourage Hawaiʻi's youth to find creative solutions that positively impact the state and the world.

"We want local high school seniors to share their big ideas about how to positively impact our community, and let us help them to realize their vision for a better Hawaiʻi," said Greg Grauman, Vice President of Enrollment Management, Hawaiʻi Pacific University. "With the solid foundation of an HPU education and the support of our experienced faculty and staff, these minds of the future have the potential to change the world with one idea. It's an exciting opportunity with tremendous potential for our students and our state."

Students should go to www.hpu.edu/HPU4Hawaii to register for the workshops at the Aloha Tower Marketplace (ATM) campus, where they will gain the tools to transform their vision into reality.

Following the #HPU4Hawaii Scholarship Challenge workshops on Oct. 8 and 23, 2016 at ATM, each student will have until Nov. 15 to submit a brief biography along with a short video and paper fully explaining his or her idea. First stage winning students will be invited to the final competition on Dec. 4 at Aloha Tower Marketplace, where they will have an opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Up to four four-year, full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors that evening.

"I'm super excited to start my studies here at HPU because of the diversity, intimate learning environment, travel opportunities and strong academic programs," said Janice Hata, a 2016 Castle High School graduate and a Scholarship Challenge recipient. "I know a lot of people want to leave the island, but at HPU the world really comes to you -- there are so many different people from different cultures that create a truly unique university community."
