Roy Yamaguchi's
Eating House 1849, which offers dishes inspired by the plantation era, recently opened its third location in Kapolei Commons.
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous lunch there last week.

Complimentary Edamame |
My husband was addicted to the complimentary edamame, which is seasoned with salt, sugar, and shichimi. I am not a fan of edamame at all, but this is the first time I actually enjoyed eating edamame!
We decided to start off with Brussels Sprouts & Cauliflower - a dish recommended by our server.

My husband and I both loved the dish. The crispy, savory bites of brussels sprouts and cauliflower were just so delicious.

Fries with the Cubano |
I ordered Tavern Style Fried Chicken for my lunch entree, which was accompanied by Goat Cheese Polenta, and smothered in "1849" Gravy. I don't really care for goat cheese, but the flavor was very mild in the polenta. The entire dish was just so good - comfort food in every forkful!
The Cubano - roasted pork, verde, honey dijon, was another dish recommend by our server. My husband really enjoyed it, and he said the bread was very good as well.
For dessert, we indulged in the Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Bar.

Served with candied macadamia nuts and a raspberry coulis, the bar was just so decadent. The layers of chocolate were just divine - I think I could've eaten the entire bar myself!
Service was amazing. Our server was prompt and friendly, but we were really impressed with the server's assistant, Jason. Our water glasses never went below three-fourths full, he often came by asking how the food was, and he'd "talk story" with us about other dishes to try.
We already have our eye on certain menu items for the next visit!
