Visit Maui: Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

For the first time, our family vacationed in the Ka`anapali Beach Resort area while on Maui, specifically at the 508-room Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.

After about a 45-minute drive from the Kahului area, past the gorgeous blues of the Pacific Ocean and the greens and browns of the Maui mountains, we arrived at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa a couple of hours before the 3pm check-in time. Our room wasn't ready yet, but we eagerly left our luggage with the bell desk and changed into our swim gear so we could spend time at the pool.

Amazing pool!

The kids had fun floating under the bridges

A 142-yard fresh water swimming lagoon winds through the property, amongst lush foliage and under bridges. The kiddies had a blast using the bean bag loungers. Technically they were for the adults, set out on the deeper side of the pool, but guests of all ages were seen floating on them.

Loving the loungers!
The property also has a fun slide and waterfall, as well as a whirlpool.

Black Rock Beach is just steps away, and on the Anuenue Lawn (right next to the pool) are games for kids to play (e.g. Cornhole and Connect Four).

My kids just loved the pool, and they were so excited whenever they got ice pops!

Floatie fun!

The pool was quite busy, and lounge chairs - especially those in the shade, were hard to come by if you didn't claim them early.  I was surprised that people left towels, bathing suits, and boogie boards on lounge chairs at 6 in the morning when the pool doesn't even open until 8am! One morning, I did see a pool attendant leave notices on unattended chairs, since chairs left unattended for an hour may be offered to other guests.

I was impressed by the pool, and also impressed by our lovely room.

We were fortunate to stay in one of the twenty `Ohana Suites.  After reading about Nadia's experience in the `Ohana Suite last year, I knew we'd have plenty of space for our family of five.

`Ohana Suite
The `Ohana Suite included two double beds, a deluxe pull-down wall bed, a pune`e (day bed), a double vanity, a shower, tub, a wet bar, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and two flat screen televisions.

The tropical decor and island-inspired colors created a warm and welcoming room.

I loved being on the first floor. It made it easy for the kids to go to and from the pool, and our "backyard" offered space for them to run around if they were feeling restless.

The grounds of the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa were just gorgeous - tall, swaying coconut trees, tranquil koi ponds, and just beautiful greenery everywhere.

The resort offers Hawaiian Cultural Activities Monday through Thursday from 10am to 12noon, and there is also the Maui Ocean Center Hawaiian Marine Life Hale, which is open from 9am to 12noon daily.

The dining options were great (read my reviews on Cliff Dive Grill here and Black Rock Kitchen here), and guests can end the night with some Beachside S'mores (this was a highlight for our family)! There is also a nightly Cliff Dive Ceremony, as well as live entertainment and hula dancing, for all guests to enjoy.

The views at sunset are incredible.  Have a seat at one of the fire pits or on the beach to watch the Cliff Dive Show and amazing sunset.  It will definitely be a night to remember!

The daily resort charge includes several amenities, such as Wi-Fi, shuttle service to Lahaina Town, and complimentary valet on the first night of arrival.
Although lines for check-in and check-out were often long, overall service was excellent. Noah at the front desk and Joe at Black Rock Kitchen really stood out.  The Sheraton Maui even has stickers on the key cards with a number to text if we needed assistance. I tested out this feature when I noticed that we were charged for self-parking for the first night despite taking advantage of the complimentary valet. It wasn't very long before I received a text back resolving the issue.

We had a really great stay at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.  I absolutely love how family-friendly the resort is.

Families staying at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa will be treated to comfy accommodations, great dining with kid-friendly options, and activities the entire `ohana can participate in, all of which help to create long-lasting memories.

And for us, that's what vacations are all about - unforgettable moments with the family.
