Island Air's New Bombardier Q400

Yesterday I was fortunate to attend the blessing of Island Air's new Bombardier Q400 aircraft.

Named Ola Kupono (safety in everything we do), the new aircraft is the first of several that will become a part of Island Air's new fleet.

The Bombardier Q400 is 30% faster than conventional turboprops, and offers a quieter flight experience with less vibrations than conventional turboprops due to its Active Noise and Vibration Suppression System.  The 78-seat aircraft also burns 30% less fuel.

David Uchiyama, President and Chief Executive Officer of Island Air, stressed how the delivery of the new aircraft would not have been possible without the dedication and cooperation of everyone involved.

The diligence and commitment from the employees of Island Air, the FAA, Bombardier, and leasing company Elix Aviation Capital Limited over the past several months culminated in a joyous event, where VIPs got an up close look at the new aircraft, while enjoying entertainment and refreshments.
