Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo

No folks, we're not in Tokyo. But you can get Tokyo-quality sushi in Honolulu, Hawaii at affordable prices at Katsumidori Sushi Tokyo at the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Waikiki.

When this restaurant first opened in December 2016, social media enthusiasts RAVED about the quality and most of all, the prices.  Good quality sushi and sashimi does not come cheap, especially in Hawaii, yet friends like @WeHeartHawaii kept telling me about how great the prices were.

My first attempt at dining here for lunch was unsuccessful. It was an hour wait for a table since I did not make a reservation in advance.  The second time around I made sure to have a reservation for our party of four.

The restaurant consists of a small sushi bar and table seating.

We sat at the table so that we could get the full Katsumidori dining experience.... ordering from the table-side iPad...

and having our sushi delivered right to our table!

My friend ordered the Sekiwake off of the set menu, which consisted of nine pieces of sushi + one sushi roll.
Sekiwake - $22
The rest of us ordered ala carte.....

Unagi - $2.50 per piece

Side of soup, fruit, and veggies - $3

Hamachi - $1 per piece  |  Salmon - $1.50 per piece

Fatty Tuna - $5 per piece

Negitoro - $3 per piece

Green Tea Ice Cream - $4 (two scoops)

Anmitsu Ice Cream - $3.50

I could not believe how fresh the fish was, how big the pieces were, and how reasonable the prices were! The people who work here are not welcoming or friendly, but thanks to the computerized ordering and delivery system, human interaction is at a minimum so the lack of hospitality did not bother me.

If you love sushi, you'll definitely want to check this place out, but be sure to make a reservation!
