Yauatcha, a dim sum teahouse offering contemporary Cantonese dim sum opened its doors last week in the International Market Place. The Waikiki location is the seventh Yauatcha restaurant worldwide and the first in the United States. The teahouse also brings to Hawaii patisserie inspired by European culinary techniques and Asian ingredients and an extensive range of tea, wine and cocktails.
Chef Ho Chee Boon, International Executive Chef at Hakkasan Group, created a menu that is authentic to Cantonese cuisine while utilizing local ingredients such as taro root. Last night I got a taste of the menu when I attended the lavish Grand Opening celebration complete with a rickshaw transporting guests and lion dance!
