Halekulani's House Without a Key

My in-laws love to frequent the Halekulani for its location, service, and many fine restaurants.  Although Halekulani is home to top fine dining restaurants like Orchids and La Mer, my in-laws prefer the casual ambience of House Without a Key and so chose the restaurant to celebrate a birthday dinner.

The indoor and outdoor restaurant offers daily breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner, and nightly entertainment.  It's a great spot to enjoy a signature mai tai while listening to live music and enjoying the sunset and ocean view.

Musicians play by the century old Kiawe tree.

Although our family totally filled up on the bottomless baskets of potato chips, taro dinner rolls, and lavosh on our table, we still had room for dinner.  I ordered the onaga with baby bok choy.  It was delicious and the portion was very generous.  I even had enough left over for lunch the next day!

I love that the restaurant offers a kids' menu.  The mac and cheese looked really creamy, but I was most impressed with the size of the kids' hamburger.  It was huge and I can attest that the french fries were very yummy!

Our family never says no to dessert, especially when celebrating birthdays!  Our table shared the chocolate chiffon cake, key lime pie, and affogato.  The key lime pie had a great crust and was the perfect sweet ending to a nice relaxing family dinner.
