Karai Crab

My mom had always wanted to try Karai Crab, but since it's not a good place for little ones, it was never an option for our family dinners.  But since they do take out, I decided to bring some over to my parents for a Sunday night dinner.

Thanks to a review that I read on Yelp, I discovered that Costco sells a two-pack of $50 gift cards to Karai Crab for $79.99.  What a deal!  So I bought a two pack of gift cards beforehand.

I called in our order before heading down there - one Dungeness crab (pictured above) and one King Crab (pictured below), both with garlic butter sauce.  I also added on a side order of garlic noodles, hoping that it was like the infamous garlic noodles at Thanh Long in San Francisco.  The total amount of our bill for two orders of crab and one order of garlic noodles was $101.

In traditional seafood boil style, each crab came in a clear plastic bag, which ensures that the crab is soaking in the sauce.

The garlic noodles were sloppily served in a two-compartment take-out container.

The crab - excellent!  Even though we didn't get to eat it straight out of the oven, it was still pretty hot when we ate it.  The crab was cooked perfectly.  There's nothing worse than overcooked crab that sticks to its shell.  As you can see from the pans, the crab comes with a very generous amount of garlic and butter.  I wish I had had a loaf of french bread to soak up all of that valuable sauce.  BTW, for best results, this was the most helpful tool for cracking open the crab legs:

The garlic noodles were just ok - not what I had hoped for, since I was really hoping it would come close to this:

It was actually quite nice to enjoy our crab at home instead of at the restaurant, because crab is MESSY! I would definitely bring this over for my parents again (except for the noodles).
