Visit Tokyo: Shiba Park Hotel - Great for Families!

When researching hotels to stay at while in Tokyo, I discovered the Shiba Park Hotel would be ideal for our family due to a variety of reasons, including its close proximity to train stations, the on-site dining, the complimentary Wi-Fi, and most importantly - connecting rooms!

Finding lodging for a family of 5 in Tokyo can be challenging, but the 199-room Shiba Park Hotel, which was built in 1948 and has the mission of offering guests a "Home away from home," offers room types that can be arranged with extra beds, triple and quad rooms, as well as three sets of connecting rooms, to accommodate large families.

Upon arrival late at night into Haneda Airport, our family caught the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho Station, and it was a short 10-minute walk to the Shiba Park Hotel.

It was about 2300 when we checked in, and service at reception was fantastic.

We were given information about dining, a few of the amenities, and we were soon escorted to our room, where we were greeted with origami cranes and gifts of sweets!

What a warm welcome!
Our connecting rooms - a Superior Twin Room with Extra bed plus a Twin Room, offered plenty of space for our family of 5.

In fact, I was quite impressed with the size of a single room, which was larger than a few rooms I have stayed at in US hotels!

The Superior Twin Room with Extra Bed had a convertible sofa bed, a desk area, and a table and chair.  A closet near the bathroom housed a small dresser.

The Twin Room had a table and two chairs, a little dresser, and a mini desk area.

The amenities are plentiful!  Room amenities include toothbrush, toothpaste, face soap, refrigerator, kettle, charging stations, and complimentary Wi-Fi!

Lots of outlets and charging stations

Plenty of bath amenities!
I thought the bathrooms were a very decent size (again, bigger than a few other hotels that I've stayed at).

Although it seemed the water did not get hot enough for bathing in the Superior Twin Room's bathroom, fortunately, the water did get nice and hot in the Twin Room.

Our connecting rooms were close to the elevator, but noise was very minimal.

I enjoyed waking up each morning to the view of the many buildings in the area.

All rooms at Shiba Park Hotel are non smoking, but there is a Smoking Room for smokers.

At Shiba Park Hotel, you'll also find a laundry room, a SAKURA room that offers cultural programs (origami, furoshiki wrapping, etc.), a foreign currency exchange machine, a house guest lounge / business center, and so much more.

Every morning we indulged in a hot Western breakfast buffet at Old City Grill House. Other dining options on property include Chinese Restaurant PEKING, Japanese Restaurant Hanasanshou, and Bar the Fifteen's.

The location of Shiba Park Hotel is very convenient.  It's located just a short walk away from several train stations, convenience stores, restaurants, and places of interest, such as the Tokyo Tower.

If you are unsure of how to get to a destination, visit the Nearby Interests page on the hotel's website, which gives access information to various destinations, or simply ask a hotel employee.

The employees at Shiba Park Hotel are very friendly and customer-service oriented. Every morning as we walked through the reception, we were pleasantly greeted, and staff often took the time to chat with us to see how our day was going and what we had planned. Service was amazing. One example of the exemplary service was observed on a rainy day. There is a very short walk across a narrow street between the two buildings of Shiba Park Hotel, and an employee stood near the crosswalk to hold an umbrella over guests' heads as they walked through the crosswalk. Talk about service!

Speaking of umbrellas, there are stands where guests are free to borrow umbrellas, as well as an umbrella locker.
