Visit Tokyo: Sweet XO Good Grief Frozen Popcorn

After the kids devoured the Harajuku Rainbow Cotton Candy from Totti Candy Factory, we didn't have to go very far to find our next sweets stop - Sweet XO Good Grief!

Literally just steps away, a photo of ice cream topped with popcorn intrigued me.

Popcorn is all the rage in Tokyo, and this was the first "frozen popcorn" spot I came across.

With cheeky names, like "On fleek," NetFlix and Chill," and "Like My Status," it was hard to decide which flavors to choose, so we ended up ordering 3 flavors in a "popcorn box."

To Have a Crush

Good Grief
I Can't Even

The three flavors we chose were:

  • I Cant Even - Caramel, Chocolate, Cinnamon
  • Good Grief - Chocolate, M&M's, Marshmallow
  • To Have a Crush - Honey, Raspberry, M&M's
And how did frozen popcorn taste?  Although I prefer savory popcorn, especially when it's fresh and hot, the sweet, frozen popcorn was yummy.  It was chilled and easy to eat, not hard like rocks, as I somewhat expected it to be since it's "frozen."  You are supposed to refrigerate the popcorn if you don't eat it all up right away, but my boys nearly ate up the entire container.

Sweet XO Good Grief not only offers frozen popcorn in a variety of flavors, but also frozen popcorn topped on ice cream, as well as on cotton candy (they offer huge cotton candy as well - a good substitute for when Totti Candy Factory is closed, as we saw when we strolled through Harajuku a few days later).

Sweet XO is actually a US-based company, and Sweet XO Good Grief is its first Asia location.

  1. Interesting. So is this regular sweet flavored popcorn that is chilled?

    1. Yes! The popcorn is displayed like how gelato / ice cream is displayed in a gelato chiller and served icy cold!
