The Boiling Crab is scheduled to hold its grand opening at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako this October where it will bring its delicious Louisiana-style Cajun cuisine to Hawai‘i for the first time. The popular restaurant has garnered diehard fans on the mainland, including local kama‘āina who have visited one of their many locations.
The first Boiling Crab opened in 2004 in Garden Grove, Calif., kicking off the Cajun-spiced seafood boil culture on the West Coast. Its founders come from a long family tradition of fisherman and crabbers, with a deep passion for sharing fresh seafood with friends, right on the table.
That unique, family-friendly dining experience where guests are encouraged to get hands-on, will continue in Honolulu. The menu includes fresh crawfish, shrimp, crab, and other shellfish, just waiting to be savored. Other tasty offerings include fried catfish, gumbo, Cajun fries, as well as sodas, beers, micheladas, and margaritas.
“Seafood lovers, including kama‘āina who have dined at its mainland locations, rave about The Boiling Crab and we are excited to bring the family-friendly restaurant to SALT at Our Kakaʻako,” said Jimmy Ventura, General Manager of SALT at Our Kakaʻako. “With its extensive menu, The Boiling Crab is a great addition to Hawaiʻi’s seafood culture and fits in perfectly with the diverse dining options offered here, at SALT at Our Kakaʻako.”
Carlos Delgado, Chief Operating Officer for The Boiling Crab and owner of the location at SALT at Our Kakaʻako, previously oversaw California Pizza Kitchen in Hawai‘i for 19 years. He looks forward to opening The Boiling Crab in this seafood-loving state.
“We kept getting asked, ‘When are you going to bring The Boiling Crab to Honolulu?’ So we cannot say enough about how excited we are to do just that. We have many faithful followers at our Las Vegas location, as well as our Los Angeles restaurants in Koreatown and Westwood, who will be happy about this new Honolulu location,” Delgado said.
“Having raised a family in Hawai‘i, I can say our casual, family-style environment matches the islands perfectly. What also sets The Boiling Crab apart from those who try to copy us is our unique sauces and spices, especially our signature flavor, The Whole Shabang,” Delgado said.
The Boiling Crab will be located at 330 Coral Street, at SALT at Our Kaka‘ako. The restaurant is among the diverse dining and retail options opening at SALT Our Kaka‘ako in the coming months. Pitch Sports Bar, Gillia, Lash Love Beauty Lounge and other new businesses are also scheduled to open. Exciting events, including the monthly Hawaiian cultural showcase Pa‘akai Marketplace, in partnership with PA‘I Foundation, and the increasingly popular SALT Bar Crawl, also draw fans to the heart of Our Kaka‘ako.
