A family trip to Louisville, Kentucky, would not be complete without a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory!
Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory showcases how the Louisville Slugger has been such an integral part of baseball's past, present, and future through a variety of displays, interactive exhibits, and a very informative and memorable tour.
Visitors get to see first-hand how the iconic Louisville Slugger bats are made via the 30-minute factory tour.
2 million wooden bats are made each year (including the mini bats, which visitors get for free after the tour!).
It was really interesting to see how bats were made in the early years, and how technology has evolved to allow bats to be mass-produced in mere seconds, as well as to the exact specifications of each baseball player’s wants and needs.
We got to feel several different types of bats and find out why there are bats in a variety of sizes, materials, and coatings.

It was such a cool experience!
After the tour, we checked out the museum.
The Louisville Slugger Museum itself is fairly small, but there are interactive stations, as well as many cool displays of bats, and the opportunity to hold bats that some of the greatest players in the game have used.

A fun Big Leagues, Little Bricks LEGO exhibit (runs through January 7, 2018) showcases a few baseball stadiums, statues, and even wall art that are made completely out of LEGO.
The boys also went into Bud's Batting Cage (additional fee applies) to take a swing at some balls.
Only one of my kids played baseball, yet they all enjoyed the hands-on exhibits, and they all learned something from the factory tour. You definitely do not need to be a baseball player or a huge fan of baseball to appreciate the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory!
