On our last full day in New York, we decided to walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
During a heat wave.
What were we thinking?
Well, I thought we'd be at the bridge early enough that it wouldn't be so hot, but I was wrong.
We were there around 9:30am, and it was already in the high 80s!
The walk started off well - we took photos, and walked at a leisurely pace as we gazed at the buildings.
It really was a neat experience to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and get a different perspective of this popular New York landmark.
There were quite a few people walking the bridge, and there were also many bikers that the pedestrians need to look out for.
But it wasn't long before the complaining started - "I'm tired!" "I'm hot!" "I'm thirsty!"
It got so hot that even I started to get miserable!
But we pushed on, taking rest breaks in whatever shade we could find possible, until we finally got to the other end of the bridge.
It took us about 45 minutes to cross the bridge, which including multiple stops for photos, water breaks, and rest breaks.
The heat really slowed us down, but it was an experience that we will never forget!
How did you get back to the city?
