Morning at the North Shore

I decided to take the family on a road trip to the North Shore on the last day of 2017.

Luckily the waves weren't big today, so there wasn't much traffic heading out there in the morning.

We decided to spend a few hours at  Ali'i Beach Park in Hale'iwa, the unofficial home of Baywatch Hawaii (recognize the structure pictured below?).

The shorebreak was a little too rough for my boys, but they were perfectly happy playing on the sand and hunting for sea shells.

And I was happy devouring a snow puffy from Palaa Kai Bakery, which we bought in Waialua on the way to the beach.

After spending a couple of hours at the beach, we made the obligatory stop at Matsumoto Shave Ice.

They line is always long, but they've got a pretty efficient system for cranking out the shave ice orders.

The shave ice is always worth the wait!

I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the last day of the year!  Happy New Year!
