Visit Hilo: Maebo Noodle Factory

You've probably heard of or even tried Maebo Noodle Factory's popular One-Ton Chips, the best-selling item from the Hilo-based family business that has been in operation for over half a decade.

During our trip to Hilo, we were fortunate to have met Porsche Leopoldino and Chasity Silva, fourth generation members of the family business, who shared with us the story of how the One-Ton Chip was born, and how this local, family-run business continues to produce its core group of products (One-Ton Chips, Chow Fun, Saimin), while also creating new, innovative products at the same time.

The One-Ton Chips are delish straight out of the bag, and they pair well with dips, are great on salads, and would make a great base for nachos!

A few years ago they launched One-Top Chip Cookies, a delightful salty/sweet cookie made with crushed One-Ton Chips!
And in collaboration with Cafe 100, a fellow family-run Hilo-based business, they created the One-Ton Milk Chocolate Chip Cookie, which you can ONLY get at Cafe 100!

Fortunately, you can get Maebo Noodle Factory's One-Ton Chips and One-Ton Chip Cookies at various stores throughout the isles or even online, but if you want to try the yummy One-Ton Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies, you must go to Cafe 100 (and while you're there, order a Loco Moco and a secret Orange Bang Slush with Ice Cream!).
