Visit Tokyo: Asanoya Soba Shop

While in Tabata, we stopped at Asanoya Soba Shop for lunch.

In addition to soba, they also serve udon and rice bowls.

Curry-Nanban Udon

Kitsune Udon
I had a hot bowl of Kitsune Udon, which came with sweetened deep-fried tofu.  It sure hit the spot.  The broth was tasty, and the noodles were thin and slurp-worthy.

The lady who was working was just the sweetest. Even though there was a huge language barrier, she really tried her best to explain the different foods and how to best eat them. At the end of the meal, she even gave the kids and the adults little treats as a present!

The eatery is a smoking one, but there are designated areas for smoking tables, so we didn't have an issue dealing with too much smoke.

Asanoya is definitely a very popular restaurant in the area - it was very crowded, and there was a line of people waiting to get in when we left. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!
