| Organic Strawberry Shave Ice |
On our day trip to Kauai we made a stop at Shave Ice Tege Tege, which Mark (owner of Mark's Place in Kauai and our guide for the day) declared as the island's best. Tege Tege, which means just right in Japanese, specializes in 100% organic Japanese style shave ice. All their shave ice comes in one size, choice of one flavor, and is topped with organic condensed milk. For extra sweetness, you can opt to add homemade organic vanilla ice cream.
With just two people using hand operated machines to fill orders, the wait can be very long. Be patient because their shave ice is definitely worth the wait. Our strawberry shave ice was amazing and not like any shave ice I had before. I loved the soft, fine, and creamy texture of the shave ice. Perfect to enjoy while sitting at the beach taking in the ocean view.
They are open Thursday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm, but get their early because they do sell out! Check out their IG page for the latest info.
