On the road trip from Denver to Albuquerque, we made a stop at Garden of the Gods to see the amazing 300-foot towers of sandstone red rock formations.
First we went to the Visitor & Nature Center to get a map and, most importantly, get everyone to use the restroom (there are restroom facilities at the actual landmark).
From the Visitor & Nature Center you can get a great view of Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods.
We then drove to one of several parking lots so we could get in a quick hike.
There are several trails you can opt to hike on, but we chose the easy Perkins Central Garden Trail, which is just 1.5 miles roundtrip over a paved path.
We saw all sorts of interesting formations, and it was just breathtaking to walk through the Garden of the Gods.
It was really neat to see how time and nature's elements have created the rock formations that we saw.
The Garden of the Gods is definitely worth the drive to visit.

The kids enjoyed getting up close to the rocks and taking photos (rock climbing is allowed in certain areas by permit).
The Garden of the Gods is definitely worth the drive to visit.
