Visit New York: Eleven Madison Park

Nadia's friend had suggested we dine at Eleven Madison Park - a three-Michelin Star restaurant that took the top spot in the World's 50 Best Restaurants last year, during our 48-hour adventure in NYC.

We had lunch reservations, and upon being seated, we opened a box which was our first course:
Black and White Cookie with Cheddar and Apple
The afternoon progressed with a glorious presentation of food:
Tomato Tea with Summer Herb Bundle; Dosa with Goat Cheese and Green Tomato
Tomato Salad with Summer Berries

Corn Souffle with Caviar and Bonito
Melon Salad with Coriander and Pressed Yogurt

Foie Gras Seared with Plum and Duck Prosciutto

Striped Bass Slow Cooked with Cucumbers and Green Tomato

Lobster Butter-Poached and Charred with Greens and Bean Ecrasse

Snails Grilled with Chanterelles and Onion

Honey and Lavender Glazed Duck with Blueberries and Onion
Dry Aged Rib Eye and Grilled with Red Peppers

Creamed Corn with Juniper and Grated Egg Yolk

Zucchini with Lemon and Mint
Triple Creme in Brioche with Cherry and Basil Creme Freche

Chocolate Sorbet with Shortbread and Coffee Meringue

Peach Compote and Shingles with Honey Custard

Chocolate Covered Pretzel

My favorite dish was the Foie Gras - it was the best Foie Gras dish I have ever eaten.  The duck prosciutto gave it nice texture and smokiness.

The snails, mushrooms, and onions were actually grilled tableside, and we ate them taco-style.

Another of my favorite courses was the Triple Creme in Brioche with Cherry and Basil Creme Freche.  We were given six brioches, and I ate four!  The inside was so creamy, and I loved it with the basil creme freche!

Even the Chocolate-Covered Pretzel was just divine!

We were both a little caught off-guard with how the menu was presented - verbally!  The server would give us course options, and it was a little difficult remembering everything and having to make a decision at that moment (guests are given a menu of their selections upon leaving).

The food was fabulous, and although both Nadia and I thought the service fell short, it was a great lunch.
